Bathroom Accessories Galore

Bathroom Accessories should also be considered when you are planning your bathroom renovation project. When your floor plan is complete, look it over to see where you want to install your hardware. Note the location of studs so you can adequately secure towel bars, towel rings and other accessories that must withstand heavy daily use.

Most bath hardware is made from brass, but you can also buy plastic, wood and ceramic versions. To be safe, stick to the solid brass construction and avoid plastic whenever possible. If you are using ceramic accessories, have them available before you begin tile installation so they can be installed into the wall.

When choosing a mirror, buy the largest one that will fit your space. A mirror that extends to the backsplash will prevent water damage and make it easier to clean behind the faucet. It will also make the room seem more spacious.

Never use plastic wall anchors to install bath accessories. Toggle bolts will work for gently used hardware. Grab bars, natural stone shower corner shelves and other heavily used accessories should be screwed directly to wall studs or 1-by-4 or 2-by-4 backing installed behind the drywall.
